A refurbished gymnasium that becomes the gathering place for St. Clement’s tight-knit community of young, spirited students

St. Clement’s is an independent girls school in North Toronto and has a tight-knit community of young, spirited students. We were tasked with providing an interior scheme for the refurbishment of the old gym. It was important for the scheme to reinforce the experience of St. Clement’s: community, distinction, spirit, participation, belonging, passion, courage and pride. As with many schools, the gym also served more than one function: in addition to an athletic space, it was also used for school assemblies as well as school events for parents and students. The scheme had to effortlessly suit all three.
